The Pixel Watch 2 and subsequent models can alert you if you leave your phone behind. Google has introduced a major update for the Pixel Watch, enabling users to make payments just by tapping the watch on a retail terminal without opening the Wallet app. This “express pay” feature is available on the Pixel Watch 2 and later versions. It is similar to the “express mode” on the Apple Watch, which allows card usage without unlocking the device. However, users must opt-in for this feature, and the watch must be unlocked for payments. Previously, Pixel Watch users had to double-tap the crown to access the Wallet app for transactions. The Watch already permits tap-to-pay for transport services without accessing the Wallet app.
The Pixel Watch 2 and later models will include more features to enhance its integration with the Pixel phone. These include automatically locking the phone when out of range and notifying you if you forget your phone. These features are compatible with Pixel 8 and newer models.
Moreover, Google is streamlining identity checks between the watch and phone, permitting sensitive actions such as disabling Find My Device with a PIN to expedite the process. This is exclusive to the Pixel Watch 3, 4, Pixel 8 Pro, and newer models, excluding the Pixel 8 and 8A.
The March update also introduces Find Hub to the original Pixel Watch and other Wear OS watches, new one-handed gestures for the Pixel Watch 3, and expands the Satellite SOS feature on the Pixel Watch 4 to more regions, including Europe, Canada, Hawaii, and Alaska.
