Keeping the flight kit tradition alive.

NASA’s Artemis II mission, which launched on April 1, is carrying four astronauts in a packed Orion spacecraft. Despite space constraints, NASA included a small “official flight kit,” containing symbolic items like mission patches, pins, and flags. Among the unique items are a one-inch fabric from the Wright brothers’ Flyer, lab-grown tissue samples from the astronauts, and a plush zero-G indicator designed by an eight-year-old. The mission promotes international collaboration and features Canada’s first astronaut on a deep space flight, Jeremy Hansen. This kit highlights America’s renewed dedication to space exploration while acknowledging historical achievements.
