In addition to a sleeker design, one of the major desires from Z Fold users has been enhancements to the camera systems. Galaxy Z Fold devices have consistently had decent cameras, but none has surpassed the leading camera phones. With the forthcoming Honor Magic V5 poised to be the most direct rival to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and reportedly as thin as Samsung’s device, I thought it would be intriguing to examine last year’s Honor Magic V3 and see how its cameras stack up against the leading flagship cameras of 2025. The findings indicate that Samsung can provide a genuinely remarkable flagship camera experience with its upcoming ultra-slim foldable, should it choose to.
Honor Magic V3: Main Cameras
The Honor Magic V3 measures 4.4mm in thickness when opened and flaunts a substantial camera island on the back with a 50MP main sensor. Honor has impressed us with its photographic capabilities in recent years, particularly in capturing motion, supported by a robust suite of software enhancements.

If I had to point out one area for critique regarding the Honor Magic V3’s photos, it would be that they are frequently underexposed, and the dynamic range could be improved when juxtaposed with the OnePlus 13 or Honor Magic 7 Pro. Each of the three devices utilizes different sensors for their primary cameras. The Magic V3 employs a sensor almost identical in size to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, indicating that physical dimensions aren’t aiding Honor’s ultra-slim foldable.
Certain parameters can be adjusted through software, yet the central issue lies in the fact that this Sony IMX906 sensor is typically found in mid-range models, and its performance mirrors that. Nevertheless, I believe most of the images captured by the primary sensor of the Magic V3 appear commendable, even if they don’t consistently meet flagship criteria across the board.
Honor Magic V3: Ultrawide Cameras
Similar to many flagship models, the Honor Magic V3’s ultrawide camera is equipped with autofocus, enabling it to serve as both an ultrawide and a macro camera. It features a lower megapixel count compared to the other four devices I compared it with, and curiously, the specific sensor used by Honor remains unknown. The company usually keeps its camera sensor specifications under wraps, and the typical software tools I utilize to uncover this information are uncooperative.
