# Apple’s ‘Glowtime’ Event: Revealing the iPhone 16 Series and More
At yesterday’s eagerly awaited ‘Glowtime’ event, Apple unveiled its latest advancements, highlighted by the introduction of the iPhone 16 series. In addition to the new smartphones, Apple unveiled key enhancements to its hardware and software ecosystem, generating a buzz of excitement among fans and technology aficionados. While several features were anticipated, a few unexpected elements—both enjoyable and underwhelming—surfaced during the event.
## iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models impress with their striking new color choices: black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine. A prominent design alteration is the repositioning of the cameras, optimized for Spatial Video capture. Both devices are powered by the new A18 chip, which Apple asserts is engineered from scratch to facilitate advanced AI functionalities.
In a surprising twist, Apple has outfitted the standard and Plus models with an array of features typically found in the Pro iterations. This includes the introduction of the Action button, first seen in last year’s Pro models, and a new Camera Control feature that merges a two-stage button with a touch-responsive swipe pad to enhance camera usability. The 48MP Fusion camera along with macro photography features are also included, although the 48MP Ultra Wide camera remains exclusive to the Pro versions.
Video recording has been enhanced with the addition of Spatial Audio and improved audio filtering options, including wind-noise reduction. Battery performance has also seen an uptick, with the base model now capable of offering up to 22 hours of video playback. Furthermore, all iPhone 16 models offer quicker MagSafe charging, achieving up to 25W when connected to a compatible charger.
## iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max
The Pro variants, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, showcase slightly larger displays at 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. They are available in a new color selection, including black titanium, natural titanium, white titanium, and a fresh gold finish referred to as ‘desert.’
Powered by the more robust A18 Pro chip, the Pro models feature a 6-core GPU that enhances graphics performance. Unique features, such as ProMotion and the Always-On display, continue to distinguish the Pro variants. The new 48MP Ultra Wide camera and a 5x telephoto lens are also noteworthy enhancements, with video recording capabilities extending to Dolby Vision 4K at 120fps.
Battery life is remarkable, with the Pro model achieving up to 27 hours and the Pro Max up to 33 hours of video playback. Storage options begin at 256GB for the Pro Max, while the Pro starts at 128GB, making the price gap between the two devices relatively narrow.
## Apple Watch Series 10
The Apple Watch Series 10 underwent a significant facelift, now featuring a larger display and a sleeker design. It introduced a new polished Jet Black option for aluminum models and a “jewelry-like shine” for titanium finishes. The Series 10 also comes with an integrated speaker for music and podcasts, quicker charging capabilities, and a new health feature that detects sleep apnea—a condition often challenging to identify.
In addition, the watch brings forth a new face that adjusts to ambient lighting conditions and boasts improved water resistance, with the Depth app now accessible on the Series 10.
## Apple Watch Ultra 2 Options
While the Apple Watch Ultra 2 itself did not see an upgrade, Apple revealed new options for the existing model. A new black titanium finish boosts durability, while a partnership with Hermès offers a natural titanium case with a navy blue band, designed for rugged use.
## AirPods 4 and Updated AirPods Max
Apple rolled out the fourth generation of AirPods, available in two versions to succeed the previous models. The AirPods 4 are driven by a new H2 chip, introducing features such as Personalized Spatial Audio and Voice Isolation to the standard variant for the first time. The charging case has switched to USB-C, marking a notable upgrade.
The AirPods Max saw minimal updates, mainly shifting to USB-C charging and presenting new color options. Meanwhile, the AirPods Pro 2 included a long-awaited hearing aid feature, delivering a comprehensive hearing health experience.
## A Few Surprises
### The Good
Among the positive surprises was the minor feature gap between the standard and Plus models in comparison to the Pro variants. The new Camera Control button surpassed expectations, and the debut of the hearing aid feature was a welcomed addition.
### The Not-So-Good
However, not all surprises were favorable. A significant letdown was the postponed availability of the Camera Control feature, which will not be ready for launch. Additionally, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 did not upgrade its chip, rendering it less powerful than the new standard model. The AirPods Max also fell short of new audio features, disappointing many.
