Some U.S. TikTok users are facing issues using the app due to a problem with an Oracle data center. TikTok stated on X that there may be temporary lags in posting content while Oracle addresses the issue. User reports on Downdetector show the problem has persisted since before 9 a.m. ET, with Oracle confirming the outage began around that time. Oracle is part of an investor group owning 80% of the TikTok USDS Joint Venture, formed to comply with a national security law mandating ByteDance to divest its U.S. TikTok business. This is the second major TikTok outage linked to Oracle issues since their involvement, with a previous outage in January attributed to a winter storm affecting an Oracle data center. Oracle has not yet determined the cause of the current outage.
