The Moon is getting larger every night.

The new lunar cycle is in its second day, meaning the Moon will appear brighter each night as more of its surface is lit. This trend will continue until the Full Moon, after which it will start to dim.
Today’s Moon phase is the Waxing Crescent. According to NASA’s Daily Moon Guide, tonight sees 7% of the Moon illuminated. The lack of visible surface features should change by tomorrow.
When is the next Full Moon?
North America can expect the next Full Moon on April 1.
What are Moon phases?
NASA describes the Moon’s 29.5-day orbit around Earth as cycling through eight phases. While we always view the same side, the Sun illuminates different parts, altering its appearance. These phases include:
1. New Moon – Positioned between Earth and the Sun, the dark side faces us.
2. Waxing Crescent – A sliver is visible on the right (Northern Hemisphere).
3. First Quarter – The right half is lit, resembling a half-moon.
4. Waxing Gibbous – Over half is visible but not yet full.
5. Full Moon – Fully illuminated and visible.
6. Waning Gibbous – Light begins to fade from the right side.
7. Third Quarter – Another half-moon, with the left side lit.
8. Waning Crescent – A sliver is visible on the left before darkness ensues.
