Perhaps the title of *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* should be *Spider-Man: Mental Health Day*, as Peter Parker (Tom Holland) clearly needs one.
At the conclusion of *Spider-Man: No Way Home*, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) cast a spell erasing Peter’s existence from everyone’s memory. While this act saved the multiverse, it left Peter utterly alone, even separated from his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon).
*Spider-Man: Brand New Day* resumes four years later, demonstrating that Peter’s isolation hasn’t softened. In the trailer, he watches social media clips of MJ and Ned’s first MIT day, longing for their companionship — particularly poignant when they become his neighbors.
Adding to his solitude, Peter undergoes significant physical changes, such as developing organic webs. For assistance, he turns to another hero familiar with painful transformations: Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).
The trailer also features appearances from notable MCU figures. Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) joins for a thrilling car showdown with Peter. Additionally, the villain Scorpion (Michael Mando) from *Spider-Man: Homecoming* reemerges, one of many adversaries Peter confronts.
Noticeably absent is Sadie Sink, confirmed for an unspecified role. IGN suggests she might briefly appear as a hooded, coat-clad character with psychic abilities. Could this be our initial glimpse of the MCU’s Jean Grey?
Will Peter reconnect with MJ and Ned? What changes are affecting his powers? And how will *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* pave the way for *Avengers: Doomsday*? We’ll find out in July.
*Spider-Man: Brand New Day* arrives in theaters on July 31.
