Move aside, Sherlock Holmes. Stop twirling your mustache, Poirot. Retire your hat, Miss Marple. A new group of remarkable fictional detectives has arrived, and they’re not human. They’re… *The Sheep Detectives*.
Screenwriter Craig Mazin (*The Last of Us*) and director Kyle Balda (*Minions*) bring Leonie Swann’s novel *Three Bags Full* to life in this wool-filled criminal adventure. Hugh Jackman plays shepherd George, who adores reading mystery novels to his sheep. Little does he know, his sheep fully grasp the stories, captivated by each thrilling whodunnit.
Yet, the flock stumbles upon a mystery of their own when their cherished shepherd is murdered. His lawyer (Emma Thompson) reveals he left $30 million, providing several of his acquaintances with a motive.
Who will avenge George? Certainly not the clumsy local policeman (Nicholas Braun). Instead, George’s flock takes it upon themselves to use their mystery-solving skills to uncover his murderer. How hard can solving a real crime be?
*The Sheep Detectives*’ latest trailer teases the chaos ahead for our woolly sleuths, including a peculiar desire to smash cars. Additionally, it offers a glimpse into the film’s impressive cast, both sheep and human. Besides Jackman, Thompson, and Braun, *The Sheep Detectives* features Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, and Rhys Darby.
*The Sheep Detectives* debuts in theaters on May 8.
