### Mac Featuring iPhone Chip Possibly Confirmed by Apple Code
Earlier today, Ming-Chi Kuo announced that a new, more affordable MacBook would incorporate the A18 Pro chip from the iPhone. Now, the initial mention of this device has been found in Apple code.
Last summer, Apple unintentionally disclosed future product listings in code associated with Apple Intelligence. As noted by Aaron Perris at that time, the code revealed multiple iPhone 16 and 17 models, as well as various Mac and iPad models. Nearly a year later, MacRumors reports today that one such device listed—“Mac 17, 1”—has now been found to be equipped with an A18 Pro chip. Thus, it appears that Apple code from the previous year referred to the upcoming MacBook featuring an iPhone chip that Ming-Chi Kuo detailed today.
No additional information regarding the device has been identified in Apple code, aside from the “Mac 17, 1” reference and confirmation of the A18 Pro chip. Apple introduced its A18 Pro chip last fall within the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Consequently, it seems unusual that the new, lower-cost MacBook would feature it instead of this fall’s A19 Pro.
Kuo mentions that the MacBook will sport a 13-inch display, akin to the smaller MacBook Air, and will be available in four potential colors: silver, blue, pink, and yellow. The expected release is in late 2025 or early 2026. We are still uncertain about how Apple might market this new product. It could adopt the conventional ‘MacBook’ name that was phased out when production of the 12-inch MacBook ended.
