Waymo Launches Fully Autonomous Rides in Nashville

1 Min Read

It’s time for driverless travel in Nashville. Waymo is offering fully autonomous, driverless taxi rides in the city. Although their robotaxis were seen earlier this year, the service was not available to the public until now. Starting immediately, invitations for driverless rides are being sent out. The service initially spans a 60-square-mile area and aims to include Nashville International Airport soon.

If you’ve not received an invite yet, it should arrive shortly. Waymo ensures a gradual rollout to maintain a high-quality service. Initially available on the Waymo app, it plans to expand to Lyft’s app later this year.

Waymo is rapidly expanding, prompted by competition from Tesla. Their latest testing extends to Chicago and Charlotte, bolstered by a $16 billion funding round. They intend to expand to over 20 more cities by 2026.
