Windows 11 Introduces a Movable Taskbar

1 Min Read

Microsoft is set to reintroduce the option to move the Windows taskbar to the top or sides of the screen, a feature long requested by users and part of broader updates to Windows 11. These enhancements aim to address criticisms of the operating system’s performance and usability. Pavan Davuluri from Microsoft confirms that the repositionable taskbar will soon be available for Windows Insiders, followed by a wider release to all Windows 11 users. Additionally, a smaller taskbar option is in development. The taskbar, once movable in previous Windows versions, lost this feature with the release of Windows 11 in 2021. The original Windows 11 taskbar, adapted from the canceled Windows 10X for dual-screen devices, initially faced backlash for lacking key functionalities. Microsoft is now gradually restoring popular elements from the Windows 10 taskbar, including testing an agenda calendar view in Windows 11’s notification center, another feature absent since the transition from Windows 10.
