X plans to address creators sharing AI-generated videos of armed conflict without proper disclosure. Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, revealed that those misleading viewers with AI content in this way will face a 90-day suspension from the Creator Revenue Sharing Program. Persistent violators will be permanently removed from the program.

Bier stated, “During times of war, authentic information is crucial, and current AI technology makes it easy to produce deceptive content.” Consequently, users posting AI-created conflict videos without disclosure will receive a 90-day suspension from the program.

X will use generative AI detection tools and its Community Notes system to identify misleading posts. The Creator Revenue Sharing Program allows creators to earn by sharing ad revenue if their content garners popularity. However, critics argue it encourages sensational content and inadequate content moderation, along with requiring creators to be X subscribers.

While banning financial rewards for misleading AI content is a step, AI-generated misinformation remains a broader issue. Outside conflict zones, AI media also serves political misinformation and deceptive marketing in the influencer economy, which is still permissible under this policy.
