Beginning this summer, Telegram users will have the chance to utilize Grok, an AI chatbot created by Elon Musk’s xAI, for an entire year. This collaboration was revealed by Telegram’s CEO, Pavel Durov, on the social media site X. The partnership will enable more than a billion Telegram users to incorporate Grok across all Telegram applications.
Under the terms of the deal, xAI will supply Telegram with $300 million in cash and stock, as well as 50% of the income generated from AI subscriptions processed through the app. This action is anticipated to significantly improve Telegram’s financial position.
Grok, recognized as one of the most unfiltered chatbots, has been accessible since November 2023. Its incorporation into Telegram is expected to introduce cutting-edge AI technology to a wide user demographic. This partnership also symbolizes xAI’s increasing prominence in the AI sector, following its acquisition of the social media platform X for $33 billion.
Telegram, which has recently exceeded 1 billion monthly users, continues to broaden its services, including new enhancements like Chromecast support for Android users. The alliance with xAI is poised to further strengthen Telegram’s standing in the messaging app arena.
