Lyric Sharing Has Arrived, Letting You Share Your Beloved Lines with Friends
What You Should Be Aware Of
– YouTube Music is unveiling support for lyric sharing today, after initially piloting the feature in April 2025.
– It can be accessed on the most recent version of the YouTube Music app for both iOS and Android.
– The functionality generates a shareable card featuring chosen lyrics and song details, available for both free and paid YouTube Music users.
YouTube Music is introducing a useful feature for sharing your current tracks with others: lyric cards. The music streaming platform first initiated testing lyric sharing in April 2025, but the feature is now being extensively released for YouTube Music users as of today, June 17 (according to 9to5Google). It is accessible on version 8.24 of the YouTube Music app for iOS and Android.
Through lyric sharing, YouTube Music users can generate a shareable card containing select lines of lyrics from the song they are enjoying. When accessible, the feature adds a new floating action button labeled Share to the Lyrics tab of the Now Playing UI. By tapping it, you can choose which sets of lyric lines you prefer to use to craft the shareable card.
You have the option to select the background color of your lyric card, and proceeding will finalize the graphic. It will display the song title, artist, album cover, chosen lyrics, and a subtle YouTube Music logo. Essentially, it creates an image that you can save to your device’s camera roll or share through other applications.
Since the feature exclusively shares an image of your lyric card, you will have to manually combine audio with lyrics shared on your social platforms. For example, if you wish to include YouTube Music lyrics in your Instagram story, you still need to choose a track for your story as you typically would for music to accompany it. Otherwise, it only requires a few taps to create and share a YouTube Music lyrics card.
Lyric sharing is accessible for both free and paid YouTube Music accounts utilizing the most recent version of the mobile app (version 8.24 on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store).
The YouTube Music app was last modified yesterday, June 16, for both iOS and Android. However, this appears to be a server-side adjustment, so please force stop your YouTube Music app if you cannot create lyric cards just yet.
