Subscribers will now enjoy background playback and offline downloads for $7.99 per month, allowing users to continue watching videos while using other apps or download content for offline viewing. This update follows feedback requesting these features since Premium Lite’s launch in the US approximately a year ago. The rollout begins Tuesday and will reach all Premium Lite regions in the coming weeks. Although most videos on Premium Lite are ad-free, users may still encounter ads in music, Shorts, and during searches. For a completely ad-free experience with YouTube and YouTube Music, users need to subscribe to the full YouTube Premium at $13.99 per month, with additional plans available for families and students.
