I’ve been anticipating for years the conclusion of Stranger Things, and I was relying on Netflix to announce the release date for season 5 during the Tudum event this past weekend.
The good news is that it has finally occurred. We were treated to a teaser for Stranger Things 5 during the event, providing us with the release dates for the final season.
You heard that correctly. Netflix will not release the entire fifth season simultaneously, preventing you from binge-watching it in just one day. After all, Netflix followed a similar pattern with season 4, dividing that installment into two parts. For season 5, Netflix is implementing a different approach entirely.
Stranger Things 5 will consist of three parts, all timed around significant holidays, enabling you to enjoy the new season, particularly the finale, which is rumored to feature an extensive runtime.
Stranger Things 5 release dates
Netflix selected three release dates for Stranger Things season 5 that coincide with the major holidays at the end of the year: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve. Here’s what you can expect and when:
– Stranger Things 5 – Volume 1 – November 26: Episodes 1-4
– Stranger Things 5 – Volume 2 – December 25: Episodes 5-7
– Stranger Things 5 – The Finale – December 31: Episode 8
Each volume will debut at 5:00 PM PST in the US, with the rest of the world receiving it simultaneously. This means Stranger Things 5 will become available on the streaming service in the early hours of the morning in Europe, and I’m already contemplating whether to stay up for either volume.
I am genuinely thrilled to see how this narrative wraps up, and Netflix is banking on that excitement. That’s why they are dividing season 5 into three parts. Three years in development, the concluding season could have been released all at once; I have no doubt about that. But what better method to keep the Stranger Things conversation alive than by splitting the show into three volumes?
This will keep fans speculating about what comes next and ensure that Stranger Things is the hot topic throughout the final months of 2025. After all, Netflix has hinted multiple times that the final season will resolve all our lingering inquiries regarding Hawkins, the Upside Down, Eleven, and the Stranger Things characters we’ve come to cherish over the years.
