Apple’s iPhone Fold Makes Notable Progress for 2026 Launch

A day following Samsung’s announcement of its seventh generation of foldable devices, a report from ETNews indicates that production for the forthcoming iPhone Fold displays has commenced. Notably, it is Samsung Display that has established a specialized line for Apple’s foldable smartphone. As per the report, the company will be the exclusive supplier of display technology for Apple’s foldable devices.

The facility can manufacture 35,000 displays monthly and utilizes the 6th-generation OLED panel. With a capacity of 1.25 million panels per month, or 15 million annually, this is more than sufficient to meet Apple’s objective of selling between 6 to 8 million iPhone Fold units in its debut year.

In recent months, speculation surrounding the iPhone Fold has intensified. Reports hint at Apple’s potential revival of the Touch ID sensor, the inclusion of a creaseless display, and the use of the highest quality materials to ensure the foldable’s successful launch.

Samsung’s latest foldable incorporates features that I genuinely desire in the iPhone Fold.

Yet again, Samsung has achieved a significant advancement in technology with the seventh-generation Galaxy Z Fold 7.

This device is considerably slimmer than its forerunner. It has also received an IP48 rating. Samsung succeeded in enlarging the displays as well, featuring 8 inches when expanded and 6.5 inches on the external display.

Most crucially, Samsung aims for its Z Fold 7 to exude the premium feel of the Galaxy Ultra. That is the standard Apple should strive to meet.

Given that the iPhone Fold is projected to be priced at approximately $2,500, Apple must ensure that this device matches the excellence of an iPhone Pro Max. After all, what is the rationale behind spending such a substantial amount on a foldable if it does not deliver the finest technology available in Apple’s flagship phone?
