The significant smartphone launches of the summer have already arrived. Nothing introduced the Phone 3, a completely new flagship featuring an unconventional design. Samsung has just released the ultra-slim Galaxy Z Fold 7, the thinner Flip 7, and the more affordable Flip 7 FE. Coming up next is Google. The Pixel 10 series is expected to be revealed in mid-August, following a timeline similar to last year’s Pixel 9.
However, the most eagerly awaited smartphone launch event of the summer is Apple’s iPhone 17. Each year, Apple hosts an iPhone launch event in the second week of September, which also marks the start of preorders. A week after preorders, the new iPhone becomes available in stores and is shipped to customers.
While Apple won’t announce the iPhone 17 keynote for a few weeks, we already have an idea of when it might occur. The week of September 8 appears probable, according to Mark Gurman.
The Bloomberg journalist may possess some insider information to support this assertion, but any devoted iPhone user could likely foresee the upcoming iPhone launch event. A quick estimation indicates that September 19 is the probable release date for the iPhone 17 series.
Gurman reminds us in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple generally holds its annual iPhone launch event in the week following Labor Day in the US. This year, Labor Day is on Monday, September 1, making the week of September 8 the most likely timeframe for the iPhone 17 keynote.
Apple typically reveals the newest iPhones and other products on a Tuesday or Wednesday, which makes September 9 and September 10 strong candidates for the announcements. Although it’s rare, the event could also occur on a Monday.
What is more significant are the preorder and release dates for those planning to purchase an iPhone 17 this year. Irrespective of when the launch event takes place during the week of September 8, preorders will begin on the first Friday following the event. That’s September 12, when customers worldwide will eagerly place their orders.
