In recognition of the fourth anniversary of Pokémon Unite, it appears the developers have finally chosen to tackle some of the most frequent grievances from users. Although this update may not resolve the unexpectedly high volume of micro-transactions and paid content, the Pokémon Company aims to enhance the game’s allure for both existing and new players.
To kick things off, in honor of the impending launch of “Pokémon Legends: Z-A,” the game will roll out new Mega Evolution Unite licenses. A community announcement reveals, “In Pokémon UNITE, we have integrated Unite licenses for Mewtwo that can Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. We are also planning to introduce additional Unite licenses for Mega-Evolving Pokémon.”
In upcoming updates, Pokémon Unite will be swapping Rayquaza for Groudon. Interestingly, while all team members will see a significant boost in their attack power and speed for scoring goals, if an opposing team KOs a Pokémon affected by this, the effect will be transferred to their own Pokémon. This presents your team with an opportunity to turn the tide of the game at the last moment, even without capturing the boss victory.
The company additionally assures adjustments to “the timing and locations of wild Pokémon appearances, alongside the layout of tall grass. These modifications will clarify the roles of the top and bottom paths while giving all battle styles the chance to excel. We aspire to make battles more manageable while enhancing strategic play.”
Lastly, the game will begin to introduce new Pokémon on a more regular basis. From September to December 2025, Pokémon Unite plans to add two new creatures each month, including options for Mega Evolution. The developers express a desire to include “even more Pokémon in 2026 and beyond.”

The celebration for Pokémon Unite kicks off this Friday with Latios and Latias making their debut in the game.
