The Power On newsletter reports that due to some iPad users facing difficulties in “unlocking the device and utilizing the front camera” in portrait mode, Apple has opted to incorporate a “second, portrait-oriented front-facing camera, allowing FaceTimers and selfie enthusiasts to operate the device effectively in either orientation.”
This improvement alone certainly does not justify an upgrade, particularly if you’ve just purchased the M4 iPad Pro. Nevertheless, this prospective new selfie camera prompted me to reflect on the inadequate rear camera currently featured on the iPad and what steps Apple should take to enhance the M5 iPad Pro’s camera functionalities instead.
