“In recent months, I have collaborated closely with our partners in the UK, along with President Donald Trump and Vice-President J.D. Vance to guarantee that American private data remains secure and our Constitutional rights and civil liberties are upheld,” she stated. “Consequently, the UK has consented to eliminate its requirement for Apple to deliver a ‘back door’ that would have allowed access to the safeguarded encrypted data of American citizens and infringed on our civil liberties.”

Although the UK government has yet to issue a statement on this issue, this situation traces back to earlier this year, when, after the UK directed Apple to implement a backdoor, the company opted to cease support for its Advanced Data Protection feature in the region. Security analysts have voiced worries that such a backdoor could be exploited by hackers, as highlighted by Reuters.
