However, they are merely what phone manufacturers describe as Qi2 ready — indicating they can support Qi2 charging but lack built-in magnets. Consequently, special cases with magnets are required to fully utilize Qi2 chargers. This will not be the case with the Pixel 10 series, as the phones are Qi2 certified — meaning all four new models integrate the magnets within the devices themselves.
MagSafe has long been regarded as one of the standout features the iPhone provides. It not only offers a variety of different accessories — which Google quickly introduced in conjunction with the Pixel 10 this week — but it also simplifies charging by ensuring the device aligns perfectly with the charger you are using. We had heard speculation that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold would be Qi2 certified, but Google has now verified that every device in the Pixel 10 lineup will benefit from it.
A new realm of accessories
With Qi2 certification, the Pixel 10 is also set to access an array of new accessories. In addition to being compatible with existing MagSafe products, Google intends to launch its own new accessories, which include the Pixelsnap Charger and an optional stand that can be connected to the charger — Google mentions that the charging stand will even support the Pixel 10 Pro Fold when it is unfolded, letting you charge your device while fully utilizing the Fold’s larger display.
