the revamped Android 16 design, however, Google will compel applications to adopt an inverted color scheme by unveiling expanded options for dark mode with a new setting that integrates into the theme.
As per a developer blog entry Google shared yesterday after the formal introduction of its Pixel 10 series, the newly expanded feature is available for testing in Android 16 QPR2 Beta 1. While it is still probably several months away from reaching the stable version of Android 16 — and even longer depending on your smartphone brand — the knowledge that Google is tackling this inconvenience is certainly progress in the right direction.
One of the primary motivations for this update, Google explains, is to offer “a more uniform user experience for individuals with low vision, photosensitivity, or merely those who favor a dark system-wide look.” With the extended option enabled, the system will automatically convert apps that operate in light mode to exhibit a darker appearance.
