Financial Times links these reports to statements made by the CEO of Broadcom — a firm that OpenAI has allegedly collaborated with to develop its AI chip. The statements indicate that Broadcom recently mentioned a “mystery” client during an earnings call, a client that has pledged over $10 billion in purchases.
Moreover, Financial Times reports that several individuals knowledgeable about the partnership have verified that the chip is set to be delivered in 2026. However, specifics regarding what to expect from the AI chip have not yet been disclosed. Nevertheless, one individual associated with the project mentioned that OpenAI intends to utilize the chip as an internal resource, rather than offering it for sale externally.
While the reports imply it could be released as soon as next year, a clear timeline for OpenAI’s new AI chip does not seem to exist. Up until now, both OpenAI and Broadcom have chosen not to comment on the issue. Nonetheless, The Wall Street Journal has since validated the report with its own findings.
