For my part, I actually viewed the film on the big screen a few weeks back and I’m pleased I did. If you need to experience something in a cinema, it might as well be a low-tension crime drama that doesn’t aim to revolutionize the genre or distract you with an overload of mind-bending visuals and special effects. Overall, I found Lee’s previous work to be intelligently penned, well-performed, and full of compelling directing decisions (like having a detective at one moment present a rescue strategy directly to you, the audience, while looking into the camera, which effectively pulls you into the narrative).

“Highest 2 Lowest,” which is presently the top film on Apple’s streaming service (as per the in-app Top 10 list), won’t rank as anyone’s favorite movie of 2025 when the time comes for us to choose those — but you should definitely check it out, as it’s more than decent.
