iPhone 13 Pro Max conspiracy theories surged across TikTok following the iPhone 17 launch, as some individuals misconstrued Apple’s wording regarding a promotional offer for the latest iPhone models. Apple announced that iPhone 17 promotions from carrier partners like T-Mobile provide up to $1,100 in trade-in for an iPhone 13 Pro model or newer. This led some to believe that Apple aimed to gather all iPhone 13 Pro Max versions, suspecting they might be the finest iPhone Apple has ever produced. As we clarified, that is far from the reality. Apple and its affiliates consistently aim at users of four-year-old iPhones with such promotions when a new model is released.
A recent study by Reviews.org published on Thursday could shed light on why Apple predominantly focuses its marketing on iPhone 13 owners. Reviews.org discovered that the iPhone 13 is currently the most widely used iPhone in the U.S., encompassing a 10% market share. The iPhone 14 (8%) and iPhone 11 (7%) follow in second and third place. Regarding Android devices, the leading smartphones in use are the Galaxy S9 (10%), Galaxy S10 (6%), and the Galaxy S24 Ultra (6%).
Reviews.org also revealed that iPhone users express greater satisfaction with their devices compared to Android users. The average rating stood at 4.16 out of 5 for iPhones and 3.98 for Androids. Notably, the iPhone 15 achieved a satisfaction rating of 5 out of 5, while older models performed well too. The iPhone 13 Pro Max, which has been the focus of recent conspiracy theories, received a 4.72 rating. The 2018 iPhone XR scored 4.56 out of 5. In contrast, the newer Galaxy S models peaked at 3.6 out of 5.
