T-Mobile stated in its announcement, “For WhatsApp users, T-Satellite customers can now engage in voice and video chats with other WhatsApp users via satellite. This includes group chats too!”
The Un-carrier isn’t alone in providing satellite services, as Apple has integrated its own satellite features in iPhones since the iPhone 14 and has recently broadened its complimentary satellite services for certain customers.
This new announcement arrives nearly a year after the FCC sanctioned T-Mobile and Starlink’s initiatives to enhance internet accessibility for a larger audience. With T-Satellite now officially out of beta, virtually anyone can enroll in the T-Mobile-backed satellite service. As T-Mobile increases the variety of applications compatible with the system, you will have additional avenues to connect with friends and family, even when in remote areas.
The provider formally revealed satellite data capabilities back in June and has been striving to offer access to more applications, including AccuWeather, AllTrails, WhatsApp, X, T-Life, and CalTopo. T-Mobile also highlights that it has broadened access to new business applications for its business clientele, including support for Dialpad, MultiLine, Florian, and T.
