there will be enhanced widget capabilities with the launch of iOS 26, and it appears that Android may soon follow in the coming weeks, at least based on a recent APK disassembly of a beta version of the Android Auto app. The feature is currently referred to by the codename “Earth,” which Google is expected to update in the future. As reported by Android Authority, it seems that Android Auto could soon offer users the ability to add widgets to the Android Auto dashboard directly from their smartphones. Presently, the feature is still in the developmental stage, although the authors have successfully gotten it to operate.

When activated, it effectively allows users to turn on a new kind of widget akin to what Android Auto currently permits with its Taskbar Widgets — presently restricted to quick app commands for media applications such as Spotify and YouTube Music. However, these new widgets are significantly larger and resemble the widgets we are already familiar with on our smartphone home screens.
