According to a report from a South Korean media outlet, TSMC has recently informed key partners that it plans to raise the prices of all chips produced using its 2nm and 3nm technologies. The report indicates that some partners could experience price increases exceeding 10%. If this rumor holds true, it would affect multiple Apple devices. For instance, the A19 processor found in Apple’s iPhone 17 series is produced using TSMC’s 3nm technology.

Additionally, Apple’s M3, M4, and even the most recent M5 chips, which feature next-generation AI capabilities, are also fabricated with a 3nm process. Specifically, products from Apple featuring M-series processors encompass the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. While earlier reports suggested that the iPhone 18 might be pricier due to the A20 chip, this is the first instance where we’ve encountered news regarding price increases for existing processors such as the A18, M2, and M3.
