What complicates matters further is that Apple has recently released an update for the AirPods with new firmware, yet customers continue to report that they are still facing the problem. In a Reddit discussion, user joncbass commented: “Identical to what others have reported. Even with firmware 8B25, the left AirPods Pro 3 emits an irritating whistle/whine/screech while flying. ANC is nearly ineffective for me, adaptive mode provides slight relief, but it’s quite disappointing.” Another user mentioned experiencing this issue on the right side: “I just disembarked the plane and it’s persisting. Mine occurs only in my right ear and seems to start at 10,000 feet. After that, it disappears.”
Although these problems seem to impact only a small number of users, it appears that Apple has been providing customers with the option of receiving replacement units or a refund.
