best sci-fi series of 2025, it’s often beneficial to look back a few years to discover other gems in the genre. We did just that and were happily reminded of one of the most overlooked sci-fi shows of the past decade, “Electric Dreams.” It’s inspired by the writings of author Philip K. Dick, who was born in 1928 and penned numerous novels and over 100 short stories before passing away in 1982.

His 1968 book “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” was transformed by Ridley Scott into the iconic 1982 film “Blade Runner,” featuring Harrison Ford, and he received one of three writing credits for the movie. The anthology series “Electric Dreams” premiered in January 2018, produced by Sony Pictures Television. It aired on Channel 4 in the UK and Prime Video in the U.S., with each of the ten 50-minute episodes delving into a distinct story taken from the author’s extensive collection of short stories. You could likely binge-watch the full series over a long weekend and spot A-list stars like Bryan Cranston, Steve Buscemi, Anna Paquin, Juno Temple, Janelle Monae, Maura Tierney, and Greg Kinnear.

Critical reception of Electric Dreams was varied

The critical and public response to “Electric Dreams” was generally positive, though the series was not without its detractors. Review aggregator Metacritic rates “Electric Dreams” at 68 out of 100 based on collected reviews, and Rotten Tomatoes shows a 72% approval rating from viewers and a 75% from critics. <a href="https://variety.com/2018/tv
