GSMA announced that the update to RCS Universal Profile 4.0 will introduce several new features to RCS messaging, including the capability to conduct video calls directly within a message thread. Additionally, GSMA states that messaging-initiated video calls (MIVC) will also facilitate the first native video calling experience across various operating systems and networks.
The enhancements don’t end there. RCS Universal Profile 4.0 will also deliver rich text and improved media quality to the messaging experience. This means you will have the ability to write text with more expressive formatting options, such as boldface, italics, and even strikethroughs. Regarding media enhancements, Universal Profile 4.0 has been completed with the functionality to transmit higher quality audio, video, and images by allowing the device to select the most suitable encoding for the content it is sending.
