Spotify has turned into a physical bookstore, folks.

On Wednesday, the music streaming company announced the start of printed book sales in the U.S. and UK. Now, Spotify users in these regions can order physical books, although initially only available on the Android version of the app, with iOS support arriving next week.

Spotify partnered with Bookshop.org, focusing on local, independent bookstores, for this venture.

Spotify introduced audiobooks in September 2022 in the U.S., and since then, it has expanded its catalog and availability to other markets including the UK, Canada, Australia, and several European countries. Currently, Spotify offers audiobooks in 22 markets with a collection of 700,000 titles.

Owen Smith, Spotify’s Global Head of Audiobooks, mentioned, “We believe the future of reading or listening needs to be flexible and fit more seamlessly into people’s lives,” when announcing the feature. He added, “We’re extending Spotify’s discovery and engagement strengths across both audio and physical formats, so authors can build deeper connections with their audiences.”

On the same day, Spotify also rolled out several other features, including the expansion of Page Match, a feature that allows users to move easily between ebooks, physical books, and audiobooks, to 30 additional languages. The company also extended Audiobook Recaps on Android, introduced Audiobook Charts in Germany, and launched a dedicated Audiobook Chart for kids in the U.S. and the UK.
