Samsung’s SmartThings Update: New Now Brief and Family Care Improvements
Samsung has revealed a major update for its SmartThings platform, launching the Now Brief feature. This addition aims to connect with smart home devices, delivering users a complete AI experience. Now Brief will be accessible on Samsung TVs starting in 2024, giving users a summary of the previous night’s happenings. Moreover, Family Care, which first appeared in 2025, is receiving enhancements to offer insights into the activities of family members at home.
Now Brief will include various functionalities, such as Home Security, Family Care, and Pet Care. It will also be available on Galaxy smartphones, enabling users to remain updated on their home’s energy consumption, device conditions, and security configurations even when away. The phased rollout of Now Brief on TVs will commence, with Family Hub refrigerators from 2021 or newer also compatible with this feature.
Family Care is being upgraded to assist users in caring for elderly parents by sending notifications regarding their activities and reminders for medications and medical appointments. Care Insights will provide actionable information on temperature, humidity, and activity levels, aiding caregivers in monitoring their loved ones more efficiently. This update builds on the enhancements made last year, which permitted caregivers to track appliance usage and receive alerts if devices went unused for prolonged periods.
