The Lands Between’s transition to the big screen will take some time. Bandai Namco has officially announced that the live-action Elden Ring movie is set to arrive in theaters on March 3, 2028, with production commencing this spring. This adaptation of FromSoftware’s 2022 open-world fantasy RPG, Elden Ring, is being produced by A24, with Alex Garland, known for writing the 28 Days zombie series and directing Annihilation and Civil War, taking on both the writing and directing roles.

Though further details about the film are scarce, the main cast has been revealed, featuring Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird, and Peter Serafinowicz. The specific roles for each actor remain undisclosed, leaving the question of who will lend their voice to the turtle pope character.

Elden Ring is not the only major fantasy RPG being adapted for the silver screen. Following the success of its animated Super Mario movies, Nintendo is working on a live-action version of The Legend of Zelda, slated for release on May 7, 2027.
