Johny Srouji, the executive responsible for Apple’s custom silicon in iPhones and Macs, will succeed John Ternus as the new chief hardware officer. Announced on Monday by Apple, Srouji replaces Ternus, who is set to become CEO in September while Tim Cook transitions to chairman of the board. Last December, Srouji reassured his team of his commitment to Apple amidst rumors of his potential departure. His appointment comes amidst a reshuffle of Apple’s top executives, including Sabih Khan assuming the role of COO and Amar Subramanya leading Apple’s AI initiatives. Srouji joined Apple in 2008 and was the senior vice president of hardware technologies, playing a pivotal role in the development of Apple’s in-house chips and other essential technologies. Tim Cook praised Srouji as one of the most talented people he has worked with, highlighting his significant impact on Apple’s silicon strategy and industry influence.
