AI meeting notetaker apps are evolving beyond simple transcription and summaries to provide full workspace capabilities, enabling data integration from various sources for comprehensive business decision-making. Otter joins Read AI, Fireflies.ai, and Fathom in offering enterprise search as a Model Context Protocol client, integrating with other apps and services.

Otter, existing for nearly a decade, is transitioning into an enterprise productivity tool, recently permitting custom MCP creation for external Otter data access. Now, users can link their Gmail, Google Drive, Notion, Jira, and Salesforce accounts to search through all data and push summaries to apps like Notion or draft Gmail messages. Future integrations will include Microsoft Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Slack.

The redesigned AI assistant is omnipresent across the interface, providing contextual answers based on the current screen or channel. Following industry trends, Otter supports botless meeting capture on Mac and Windows. Despite debates on bot-driven notetaking, Otter CEO Sam Liang notes preference among enterprise customers for bots joining meetings to ensure transparency and shared note distribution.

To counter excessive bot participation, Otter has a deduplication feature. The platform has grown from 25 million users and $100 million in annual recurring revenue last year to 35 million users now.
