

One of the pioneering names to explore the AI integration in browsers was Dia, soon followed by Opera and Brave. Recently, major players have joined the competition. OpenAI launched ChatGPT; Perplexity made initial waves with Comet; Microsoft incorporated Copilot into Edge, and Google embedded Gemini within the Chrome browsing platform.
I have thoroughly utilized at least five of these AI browsers, and their influence on my efficiency has been significant. However, at the same time, some of the tricks these browsers perform in the pursuit of automating and accelerating tedious tasks have unnerved me. I am not alone in this sentiment. Scholars have also cautioned that as AI browsers begin to function more like agents, the potential risks will significantly increase.
