Gemini Live’s camera sharing capabilities are noteworthy. Moreover, Gemini has the ability to guide you through your surroundings, should you choose to enable it. Presently, some reports indicate that Google might be incorporating enhanced Google Maps support into Gemini Live via information cards that appear when you highlight landmarks and locations.
A recent APK teardown by Android Authority reveals that Gemini Live will soon integrate Google Maps info cards directly within the Gemini Live viewfinder. This feature was identified in version 16.35.63 of the latest beta for the Google app and appears to enhance Gemini’s existing features by providing more details about the highlighted places with the AI assistant.
You can currently experience the basics of this functionality by visiting a restaurant or landmark, then launching Gemini Live and activating your camera viewfinder. However, with the addition of the Google Maps extension, it will now offer even more comprehensive information than before.

According to images released by Android Authority, the Google Maps extension seems to display various info cards on the screen. These cards contain details such as the name of the location you’re highlighting, along with the current review score that location holds on Google Maps.
Additionally, reports indicate that the feature may showcase multiple cards on the display if Gemini recognizes various names for the same location. It seems that Gemini isn’t utilizing your phone’s location data — at least not in this instance. The reports further mention that the feature will continue to function even if you are not using Gemini Live’s camera viewfinder, allowing you to interact with the AI through voice alone.
