During the company’s third-quarter earnings conference this week, Tim Cook disclosed that Apple is “making solid headway on a more tailored Siri.” This revelation follows more than a year after the company demonstrated what Siri could achieve with Apple Intelligence.

However, after Apple Intelligence was launched with iOS 18.1, the revamped Siri was absent. The improved personal assistant was rescheduled for iOS 18.4, but when the company began testing the update, a report indicated that Siri would instead be deferred to iOS 18.5. Shortly after that news circulated, Apple indefinitely delayed the revamped Siri.

Ultimately, the company made a public statement regarding the postponement: it simply wasn’t prepared to deliver the upgraded Siri to users. The ordeal caused Apple to reevaluate its AI strategy, change leadership, and even be more cautious with its announcements during WWDC 2025, ensuring it would only present features that it could realistically roll out later this fall.
