Following the unveiling of the iPhone Pocket, a high-end limited-edition accessory designed in collaboration with Issey Miyake, numerous Apple fans speculated that it served as a reference to the iPod Socks. While both items target vastly different consumers, many could not ignore the parallels. Furthermore, Apple launched the iPhone Pocket one day after the iPod celebrated its 24th birthday.
Considering this, might the company consider reviving its classic device for a unique anniversary edition in 2026, marking 25 years since its inception? As per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his “Power On” newsletter, there’s scant history of Apple reviving a significant product line. A primary factor against this would be the substantial shifts in consumer behavior over the decades.
Nonetheless, Gurman highlights how appealing it could be for a youthful generation unfamiliar with this vintage technology, who would appreciate experiencing it for the first time.
