Announced during the WWDC 2025 keynote, the latest Emoji Game from Apple News Plus is now accessible to subscribers. The Emoji Game requires iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4. It was initially anticipated to debut alongside iOS 26 later this fall.
Apple launched the game early in honor of World Emoji Day. This release expands its collection of daily puzzle games available through the $12.99/month Apple News+ subscription.
Cupertino states that the Emoji Game “brings to life one of users’ preferred methods of communication in an enjoyable and captivating way, with players tasked to utilize emojis to finish three phrases, aiming to solve the puzzle in as few moves as possible.”
A notable aspect of the Emoji Game is its incorporation of Genmoji, developed with Apple Intelligence, to assess players’ abilities. “Each phrase comes with a hint that the user can opt to reveal, but this will count toward the player’s overall number of moves,” the company elaborates.
“Emoji Game is the ideal enhancement to the Apple News+ collection of word and number puzzles, transforming the emojis we engage with daily into an entertaining and accessible brainteaser,” remarked Lauren Kern, editor-in-chief of Apple News.
Similar to Apple’s other games, Emoji Game features Game Center leaderboards (and will eventually connect with the forthcoming Games app). Players can also share their outcomes with friends and family via social media, Mail, or Messages.
Subscribers to Apple News+ can find daily and archived puzzle games in the Puzzles section of the Apple News app. Aside from the Emoji Game, Apple provides popular puzzles like crossword, the crossword mini, Quartiles, and Sudoku.
The Apple News+ subscription is available in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Users can subscribe individually or as part of the Apple One Premier bundle. Currently, it remains uncertain when Apple intends to extend News+ to more countries and regions, but there is consistently high global demand for it.
