Marvel Studios is navigating the situation in real-time. There’s no denying that the allure of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has diminished in recent times, as new characters have been launched with significant excitement only to be quickly overlooked (refer to: Starfox, Black Knight, Clea, etc.) and once-promising stories have devolved into CGI chaos.
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” may not resolve everything in an instant, but it does follow up on “Thunderbolts” by continuing to steer the course. It’s another move in the right direction – and a critically significant one ahead of “Avengers: Doomsday,” where Marvel’s First Family will appear next.
Fortunately, regardless of whether you’re completely invested in seeing the Multiverse Saga through to its conclusion, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” offers an exhilarating standalone narrative with a clear beginning, middle, and end that still contributes to the imminent resolution of this segment of the MCU.
