CEO Jim Farley Discusses the Absence of Apple CarPlay Ultra in Ford Vehicles

Apple announced CarPlay Ultra in 2025 and indicated that Aston Martin would be the initial automaker incorporating this technology into its vehicles. Although Apple has assured that more manufacturers will adopt this experience shortly, some have opted out of supporting it.

This includes Ford. The automaker has had a partnership with Apple for many years, yet its CEO Jim Farley is dissatisfied with the current version of CarPlay Ultra. In a discussion with The Verge, he stated that Ford is still evaluating it, but not in the manner Apple might anticipate: “We don’t like the execution of Ultra in round one,” he notes. Nevertheless, while other manufacturers have opted to entirely withdraw support for CarPlay or have not chosen to implement it at all, Farley mentioned that Ford remains “very committed to Apple.”
