big tech expo without robots everywhere? At Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC), a key feature of the robotics scene hails from China Mobile. The firm is presenting a range of its technologies at the event, merging its 5G network with cloud services, AI, and even a new wave of robots that aren’t yet ready for consumer launch. To demonstrate these advancements, the company created a restaurant entirely operated by robots where attendees can glimpse the potential future of fast food.
During the demonstration, you can select your meal via a tablet, and once you’ve submitted your order, the restaurant’s team, consisting of four robots, springs into action. China Mobile informs BGR that there is a primary Lingxi robot serving as the waiter, while the other robots carry out tasks based on this main robot’s activities. In this scenario, the additional robots were tasked with preparing dumplings, pouring tea into a cup, and retrieving an apple from a refrigerator. Each of these duties is executed as the waiter robot moves towards the others. In total, this process is expected to take two minutes and 24 seconds, but the demonstration felt somewhat slower.
