At first glance, the PS5 seems to lack an indicator light to show that the console is operational. However, it actually has one — it’s just cleverly concealed. The PS5’s indicator is an LED light strip hidden at the center of the device. It runs around the edge of the system’s glossy black chassis, lighting up as soon as you turn on your device. When activated, the “power on” state is shown by a blue light that later shifts to solid white. This is the indicator you want to see, as it means your PS5 is functioning perfectly. Still, there are a few additional light colors and pulsing patterns that every PS5 owner should know about.
If your PS5’s LED indicator flashes white or blue, or stays solid blue, you might be encountering a console issue. If your system appears frozen or isn’t functioning properly, Sony advises unplugging the power cord, waiting three minutes, then plugging it back in to restore your PS5. If that doesn’t work, the company suggests using the built-in Safe Mode for troubleshooting.
