Foldable iPhone Anticipated to Feature Ample Battery

the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the inaugural foldable iPhone. Notably missing from this roster are the standard iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2. The former is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18e in the spring of 2027, which is also when the next Air model could be introduced, although Apple might delay it. The iPhone Fold appears to be a certainty for next year, given the growing number of reports referencing it. The most recent such report comes from the prominent Korean leaker yeux1122, who asserts that the first foldable iPhone will feature an enormous battery. Apple is allegedly evaluating batteries ranging from 5,400 to 5,800 mAh.

The leaker states that this information originates from Apple’s supply chain — the same source that indicated the iPhone Air would include a 2,800-3,000 mAh battery. This refers to a May rumor that proved to be somewhat accurate. The iPhone Air’s battery ultimately measured 3,149 mAh. Considering that the eSIM-only variant of the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a 5,088 mAh battery, an upgrade to either 5,400 mAh or 5,800 mAh seems plausible for the foldable iPhone. The iPhone Fold would consist of two sections, each containing a battery. If the device is approximately the size of two iPhone Airs adjacent to one another, the battery capacity could be logical.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentioned over the weekend that the aim of the iPhone Air was to ready the supply chain for the forthcoming foldable iPhone, which would utilize a number of components developed for the Air. What stands out about the Air is that the interior of the device is largely comprised of the battery. The logic board is positioned at the top of the device, beneath the camera plateau.
