I assumed Google would definitely ridicule Apple Intelligence at I/O 2025, especially after Apple’s significant blunder this year. Apple’s extensive Siri redesign is still nowhere to be seen, while Gemini has incorporated numerous fresh features since Apple revealed its ambitious AI objectives at WWDC 2024.
Google opted not to disparage Apple in any way and concentrated on its own AI announcements instead. However, it targeted Apple immediately after WWDC 2025 wrapped up last week. The tech giant disclosed the launch of Android 16 for Pixel devices alongside a variety of new features for current Android and Pixel phones.
This was not merely a coincidence. Google timed its Android announcement perfectly as the world was abuzz with the innovations in iOS 26 and the new Liquid Glass design set to debut across all of Apple’s offerings.
A week following the Android 16 unveiling, Google returned with a bolder strike. The company released a humorous advertisement that pokes fun at certain new features in iOS 26 that have been present on Pixel devices for years. The ad also hints at the soon-to-be-released Google Pixel 10 phones, which are anticipated to debut this summer.
The fresh ad adopts the same “Mac vs. PC” style that Apple popularized during its fierce competition with Windows. It’s ironic, as Google is now imitating a format that Apple made famous to mock Apple for imitating its features.
The advertisement follows a comparable narrative to some of Google’s recent anti-iPhone commercials. An iPhone (16 Pro/Max?) and a Pixel 9 Pro can be seen chatting about WWDC 2025, where Apple introduced iOS 26.
The iPhone shares with the Pixel the new features in iOS 26 and the “coincidences” highlighted by the media, emphasizing that many of these functionalities have been available on Android for years.
