We are merely a few days away from Samsung’s second significant Unpacked event of the year, the occasion where the South Korean company reveals this year’s foldables. As is the norm for Unpacked events, nearly everything has been disclosed prior to Wednesday’s presentation. We already have an idea of what to anticipate from the event.
This iteration of Samsung foldables will be unlike anything the brand has produced previously. 2025 could emerge as a key year in Samsung’s foldable evolution.
The main attractions of the event will be sleeker than ever. Those are the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. Samsung will also introduce its first budget-friendly foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.
At the conclusion of the event, Samsung is anticipated to hint at several products that will launch commercially much later this year. Among these is the so-called Galaxy G Fold 7, which will be Samsung’s first commercially available trifold smartphone.
A last-minute revelation provides us with our initial glimpse of the ultra-slim Galaxy Z Fold 7, and it’s truly impressive. It certainly appears that Samsung has finally achieved it. The company has crafted the exceedingly thin foldable that we’ve been longing for.
Same design as Galaxy Z Fold 6?
We’ve already encountered numerous ultra-slim foldables on the market, with Honor setting the pace. The Chinese manufacturer produced ultra-slim foldables as early as 2023. The Magic V2 received a successor last year, the Magic V3. Earlier this week, Honor presented the Magic V5 in China, a device with a folded profile of 8.8 mm. That’s according to Honor’s marketing, although the actual thickness is 8.88 mm.
The previous year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 was already more slender than its predecessors. However, that 12.1 mm thickness was still significantly bulkier than devices like the Magic V3. We recognized Samsung could do better, and Samsung came through. The limited edition Galaxy Z Fold SE measured 10.6 mm when folded, but it wasn’t available for sale.
