**Insider Discloses How Apple Could Triumph In The AI Competition With An Enhanced Siri**
After Apple’s revelation that the much-anticipated Siri revamp would be delayed, we may now have insight into when to anticipate the tech giant’s personal assistant to rival ChatGPT and similar platforms. More critically, it’s not solely about becoming more intelligent, but ultimately realizing Apple’s aspiration for what Siri is meant to embody: a practical personal aide.
While users expected Siri to retrieve information from their messages, podcasts, and beyond – as Apple showcased Apple Intelligence during its WWDC 2024 keynote – Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman posits that what will distinguish the company’s proposition, albeit it should have occurred much sooner, is a refined iteration of the App Intents technology.
This API enables Siri to obtain data from Apple’s proprietary apps, as well as from third-party applications. Enhancing this technology is essential for enabling requests like “locate the photo of me grinning at a café in Paris” or “erase a person from the background of that image near Big Ben in London.”
**Updated Siri may finally debut in spring 2026**
Despite challenges engineers are facing in piecing everything together, Gurman anticipates the brand-new Siri to be “the realization of the vision promised nearly 15 years ago.” The reporter indicates Apple is targeting a spring launch, which corresponds with his earlier forecast of a March debut.
Nevertheless, to ensure this launch’s success, Apple will require substantial support from app developers, which is where the App Intents API becomes crucial. Currently, Gurman reveals that Apple is experimenting with how Siri might connect with applications such as Uber, Amazon, YouTube, AllTrails, Facebook, WhatsApp, and more. If this proves effective, it would enable users to utilize Siri to hail an Uber ride, purchase from Amazon, post a cheerful birthday greeting on Facebook, or locate the podcast a friend recommended on WhatsApp a few weeks back.
This would align Siri much more closely with Apple’s initial vision for the personal assistant. While OpenAI, Google, X, and Meta aim for their AI chatbots to tackle significant inquiries and generate captivating visuals, Apple could provide users with exactly what they desire: an experience that transforms how they interact with the iPhone, making it as effortless as initiating a dialogue.
**Banking applications could be excluded, but Apple has grander designs**
Bloomberg additionally reports that Apple is exercising caution regarding incorporating the App Intents API into health and banking applications. “Concerns exist about the software faltering in domains where accuracy is paramount, such as in health or banking apps,” the report clarifies. “For years, users have faced challenges with Siri misinterpreting their requests. It’s frustrating but not critical if your phone misreads the city from which you wish to receive weather updates or directs you to the incorrect restaurant. However, allowing the current Siri brain to manage all your applications would undoubtedly present a greater risk.”
This is why Gurman believes Apple may adopt a more cautious approach and omit these categories from Siri’s forthcoming functionalities. For instance, the company disabled Siri’s capability to summarize news app notifications during the iOS 18.2 beta cycle, only reintroducing it with iOS 26, several months later.
The reporter mentions that Apple also intends to offer Siri a new voice-driven interface. Ultimately, a successful rollout could pave the way for Apple’s new smart home product ecosystem, fundamentally evolving the company’s offerings to adopt a more innovative, hands-free perspective. According to such reports, it appears we may gain a preview of this as early as next spring.
